FUMC Youth Faith Refuge Night 2024

FUMC Youth at Faith Refuge

Since 2013, the FUMC Youth have traveled to Faith Refuge once a year to lead chapel service and serve dinner. Faith Refuge is the local women’s shelter and recovery center.

During worship, the students lead music, prayer time, and small groups with the residents at Faith Refuge. The students also prepare and serve dinner.

For many of the students, this event is a highlight of their fall schedule. Brent Lamberth, FUMC Youth Director, explains, “Each year, we are met by women who have all faced personal challenges and struggles. Yet, they sing boldly. They speak honestly. They proclaim joyfully their hope in Christ. Our students are blessed each year by the women of Faith Refuge!”

Rylee Cargal, an 11th-grade student, shares, “Faith Refuge is by far one of the best times of the year with the youth. We get the privilege of singing songs and sharing meaningful conversations with the women at Faith Refuge. They are inspirational, caring, and God-loving women! Even in their toughest times, they stay strong in their faith. Plus, they aren’t afraid to sing some hymns! These women give us hope and perseverance and are a powerful reminder of the incredible strength of the human spirit.”

We are so proud of these students and their continuous enthusiasm for serving their community. Many thanks to the adult chaperones for joining this event and supporting our FUMC Youth.
