SLP – Indoor Facilities
INDOOR FACILITIES are child-centered, child sized, and child-friendly. The classrooms are found on the first and second floors of the education wing at FUMC Wichita Falls. When weather does not permit outside play the Atrium, a large indoor area found on the first floor, is used for recreation.
We believe that learning proceeds from prior knowledge. Every child, even an infant, comes to us with some prior knowledge; however, the amount and sophistication level of that knowledge will vary widely from child to child due to developmental level, environment, and prior experience. That is why our staff continually observes and assesses our children so that they can provide exciting and challenging classroom environments to help children expand their knowledge base. We are the environment builders, but the children are our inspiration. We see to it that each classroom each day is rich in opportunities for creativity, discovery, and self expression and lends itself to the business of increasing the child’s skill levels emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively.
