You won’t want to miss this YES sponsored MYSTERY TRIP to who knows where!  These trips are always a LOT of fun, and this one will be, too!  Here are the details:

• Date:  Thursday, September 23, 2010
• Time:  9:30am – mid-Afternoon
• Cost:  $4 (due in advance of the trip)
  AND money for lunch on your own.
  (it also never hurts to have some spending money just in case)
• DEADLINE to Sign Up:  Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Branson will be the destination for a YES-sponsored trip on Tuesday, November 9th and will return to Wichita Falls on Friday, November 12th.

All plans for the trip have not yet been finalized. The plan is for only one bus (12 seats available). Before a second bus is possible, 23 people will need to sign up for this trip. The deadline to sign up is Tuesday, October 5, 2010.

We will see at least 4 or 5 Christmas shows. If you are interested in going on this trip please put your name on the sign-up sheet in the church office, fill out the form below, or contact Joyce Barham at jbarham32@yahoo.com or 940-691-1770.

When all plans are completed and you have indicated an interest in going you will be contacted.

REMEMBER:  You do not have to be a Senior Citizen to go on one of these trips.

Although the price and deadline are yet to be determined for this fun, annual event sponsored by the YES Committee, you can go ahead and reserve a spot now! There will be great food at the brunch AND you’ll get to see beautifully decorated homes of some of our church members.

YES is planning a trip to Granbury, Texas:

• July 10, 2010
  (leaving no later than 9:15am and returning by 8:00pm)
• To see matinee performance of America the Beautiful, a patriotic musical at the Granbury Opera House in downtown Granbury.
• Cost:  $39 each (PLUS lunch on your own)
  There may be time to shop just prior to the 2:30pm performance.
• Deadline:  June 21 – money is not refundable after that date.
• Transportation will be on church vehicles.

A team effort went into the 36th Annual Senior Adult Luncheon to honor the senior citizens of our church for past and current support of our church.  The event began with a tasty meal of orange glazed chicken, rosemary potatoes, sauteed vegetables, a roll, and red velvet cake prepared by Bryan Press of Monarch Catering.

Then, Payton Beggs (a Junior at Old High) took the stage, wowing the honorees with her beautiful voice on old-time and modern country tunes.

Next, awards were given:

Potted Flowers:

Thanks to a generous donation of Tammy & Kristian Kowing of the Exodus Sunday School Class, someone at each table received a potted flower that served as the center piece for each table!

2009-2010 Sunday School Attendance:

• 100% – Harry & Evelyn Kinkead (Win-Some);
• 98% – Barbara Davis (Win-Some); and
• 96% – Ed Kuhn (All Saints) & Mary Leath (Fidelis).

J.B. & Joyce Barham Award for Dedicated Service to FUMC:

Mary Nell Taylor joined FUMC on September 19, 1954 and has been very involved in the Win-Some Class, Women’s Fellowship 4 (aka Creative Creatures), Library Board, Heritage Committee, and YES events.

Tom Golden joined FUMC on August 29, 1999 and has participated in and helped lead discussion in the 3rd Thursday St. Simeon Group. Likewise, he is serving his 3rd year as President of the Bi-the-Way Class where he leads / teaches classes and has gotten the class involved in the Annual Fall Food Drive and the Mt. Calvary UMC Power Meals.

This event would not have been possible without the following people:

• Tammy & Kristian Kowing (of the Exodus Sunday School Class) and their daughter Kelsey who decorated the tables;
• The FUMC Youth and Jeff Ginn who helped setup, serve food, and cleanup;
• Members of the Young Adult Singles of The Journey Sunday School Class who served drinks and helped cleanup;
• Members of the Genesis Sunday School Class who helped serve food, cleanup, and washed the dishes;
• Payton Beggs for providing the entertainment; and
• Bryan Press for the great food!
