Youth Missions

Our youth are very active in missions, having participated in Teens Make a Difference Day, 30-Hour Famine (which helps raise money to prevent world hunger), raising money for Straight Street Ministries (which helps keep young people safe and off of the street), and more.

Teens Make a Difference at FUMC – October 23, 2010

Teens made a difference here at FUMC on Saturday, October 23. We picked up trash around the church building and parking lot and also worked inside the church cleaning and organizing some problem areas. A big thanks to the 30 youth and adults who volunteered their time and service!

Letter from Stephanie Iracheta

StephanieFollowing is a letter from Stephanie Iracheta, FUMC Youth Scholarship recipient from the Lydia Patterson Institute:

“Hey everyone:

I hope you guys are doing great! I just want you to know that I miss you a lot. I miss everyone of you. I learned about each one of you something and guess what? It is still on my heart.

I am so excited for the summer to come, and hang out with all of you again.

Stephanie “weird accent” Iracheta is going back! So take care, and let the Lord to lead everything you do, and you will see, even if you are scared, His power!

I am not gonna lie, this semester has been difficult for me, but it’s a blessing to say that I didn’t have to leave school a year because of money. My dream is growing faster. I want to go to college, and be a doctor, and I think that if the Lord gives you the power to dream big, it’s because you can do big things in life.

Love mucho!

Stephanie “Ch” Iracheta”

30-Hour Famine Coming to FUMC: February 26-27, 2010

30-hour-famineThe youth will be taking part in our annual 30 Hour Famine event on February 26 & 27th.  This year we are not going to ask for any donations of money.  Instead our focus will be on helping the hungry in Wichita Falls through the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank.

We will be collecting grocery items that we can assemble into Emergency Food Kits.  The assembled kits will then be taken to the food bank where they will be made available to the needy folks in our community.

More info on how YOU can help will be coming soon!

For more information, contact Jeff Ginn:
jginn@fumcwf.org or 940-766-4231, x230.
