June 9, 2010 marked a first for the North Texas Annual Conference as, in addition to the normal business of the conference, a mission work day was held to help members of the conference (including our Bishop, District Superintendents, and Extended Cabinet) practice what we preach. FUMC folk participated in all of the projects:
- Cooking Breakfast (Connie Rosenburg & Erica Conner)
- Painting the Riverside Cemetery Fence (Erica Conner, Rev. Pellikan, and children of Adventures in Mission (AIM-1))
- Texas Ramp Project 1 (Rev. Sims)
- Texas Ramp Project 2 (Alan Ballard & former Youth Pastor, Dana Coker)
- Texas Ramp Project 3 (Elizabeth Yeager)
- Imagine No Malaria Car Wash (Youth of FUMC)
In fact Jeff Ginn and our youth spearheaded this event that raised over $300 to help eradicate malaria on the continent of Africa by 2015)

Twenty three (23) youth and adults left after 10:30am Worship to go on a Mission Trip to San Marcos, Texas to do repairs on homes of people that live in that area. As you can see in the picture, they prayed as a group before they left, but we ask that you pray for them as well over this coming week. They will be returning late on Friday, June 18.

Following is a letter from Stephanie Iracheta, FUMC Youth Scholarship recipient from the Lydia Patterson Institute:
“Hey everyone:
I hope you guys are doing great! I just want you to know that I miss you a lot. I miss everyone of you. I learned about each one of you something and guess what? It is still on my heart.
I am so excited for the summer to come, and hang out with all of you again.
Stephanie “weird accent” Iracheta is going back! So take care, and let the Lord to lead everything you do, and you will see, even if you are scared, His power!
I am not gonna lie, this semester has been difficult for me, but it’s a blessing to say that I didn’t have to leave school a year because of money. My dream is growing faster. I want to go to college, and be a doctor, and I think that if the Lord gives you the power to dream big, it’s because you can do big things in life.
Love mucho!
Stephanie “Ch” Iracheta”

The youth will be taking part in our annual 30 Hour Famine event on February 26 & 27th. This year we are not going to ask for any donations of money. Instead our focus will be on helping the hungry in Wichita Falls through the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank.
We will be collecting grocery items that we can assemble into Emergency Food Kits. The assembled kits will then be taken to the food bank where they will be made available to the needy folks in our community.
More info on how YOU can help will be coming soon!
For more information, contact Jeff Ginn:
jginn@fumcwf.org or 940-766-4231, x230.

After a slow start this year, we received our first shipment of food on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 to provide PowerPaks (weekend food) for less fortunate children at Alamo School. That evening the Jr. High Bible Study youth packed the 98 packs (a number that will continue to grow over the ensuing weeks). Many thanks to the Jr. High for getting us started!
Then, on Thursday, October 22, Bonnie Davis (our PowerPak volunteer coordinator) and Courtney Grimes delivered the packs.
The Young Adult Singles will pack next week, but maybe you are interested in volunteering to help pack or deliver the PowerPaks. If so, fill out the form below, or contact Rev. Sims (940-766-4231, x229 or tsims@fumcwf.org) or Bonnie Davis (767-0648).
