We have three choirs for children of different ages to participate in Music Ministries at FUMC. All three meet for rehearsal on Wednesday afternoons, September thru May and follow this schedule:
While the Cherub & Trinity Choirs rehearse from 4:00-4:45pm, the 3rd-6th Graders participate in a fellowship time known as MORE with Kim English, Children’s Ministries Director. Likewise from 4:45-5:30pm, children age 4 through 2nd Grade take part in the MORE Bible Study, also with Kim English. To learn more about that program, CLICK HERE!
The Cherub, Trinity, and Wesley Choirs rehearse throughout the school year and often help to lead us in worship. In addition, these choirs culminate the first Wednesday in May when they present a children’s musical!

Registration is now open for the Spring 2011 Musikgarten Classes at FUMC. Classes will begin on February 2, 2011.
If you are not familiar with Musikgarten, it is a music curriculum for infants, toddlers, and pre-school children. Research has shown that we are all born with an aptitude for music, but that aptitude diminishes if it is not actively nurtured between the ages of birth and nine. The Musikgarten classes offered at First United Methodist Church are designed to nurture the child’s music aptitude by engaging children and their families in singing and movement activities which help attune the ear, refine the voice, and develop a rhythmic body through which music can be expressed. Additionally, instrumental activities are part of the program, such as playing simple rhythm instruments like sticks and drums for babies and toddlers.

On October 10, 2010, FUMC children lead worship at our 8:30am and 10:30am worship services. It was a meaningful experience for all of us and the children did a great job!!

A great time was had by all as the children & youth choirs registered for the 2010-2011 year at The Plex on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. However, if you have a child who wants to be in choir but did not make it to the registration, NO PROBLEM. Just get them to the respective rehearsal time!
