Day 5 of VBS Made Us Celebrate Good Times – July 22, 2011

All good things must come to an end, but was it really an end?  Our theme today was CELEBRATE GOD FOREVER.  So, even though VBS ended, it is also a beginning as the children continue to celebrate God through the rest of their lives with what they learned this week!

I will cause your name to be celebrated in all generations; therefore, the peoples will praise you forever and ever.

Psalm 45:17

We are grateful for all the children, youth, and adults who made this such a special week.  We also thank parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends, etc. that brought the children reach day to “Shake it Up Cafe!”

Day 4 of VBS Made Us Remember – July 21, 2011

Today’s “catch phrase” was REMEMBER JESUS OFTEN, and we focused on Jesus’ last supper with the key verse being Luke 22:19b:

Do this in remembrance of me.

We’ve really enjoyed this week with about 150 kids and about 65 volunteers (adults and youth) who have made this all possible.

Tomorrow (Friday), we’ll have a closing ceremony in the Sanctuary where the kids will sing for family and friends.  After that, we’ll share together in a pizza celebration in the Atrium!  It’ll be GREAT!

Day 3 of VBS Made Us Believers – July 20, 2011

Our “catch phrase” for the day was BELIEVE FULLY, and our key verse was John 14:1b where Christ says:

Trust God; also trust me!

It has been great to see around 150 kids participating in VBS this year, and we are hoping for more tomorrow.  If you have friends or family age 4-grade 5 (completed), bring them along!

Day 2 of VBS Really Got Us Cookin’ – July 19, 2011

Today, we learned to “give happily to God,” and our “Bible Bite” for the day was Hebrews 13:16:

Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have, for God is pleased with these kinds of sacrifices. (CEB)

We also considered the many Jewish festival (or holidays) discussed in Leviticus 23.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE for children to come and participate! So, if you missed the first day, no problem! If you’ve got a friend you’d like to bring, bring them tomorrow! We hope to see you!

Day 1 of VBS Got Us All Shook Up – July 18, 2011

Today, we learned that we are to “be ready for God” when God calls us to do something.  Our example was the story of the first Passover and Exodus when the Israelites had to be ready to leave!

This first day went very smoothly and was, in a word, “EXCELLENT,” as 135 children began to consider God’s recipes for their lives!

IT IS NOT TOO LATE for children to come and participate! So, if you missed the first day, no problem! If you’ve got a friend you’d like to bring, bring them tomorrow! We hope to see you!

VBS Dates Set – July 18-22, 2011

The dates have been set for the 2011 Vacation Bible School at FUMC:

  • July 18-22, 2011
  • 9:00-12:00noon

Our theme this year is “Shake it Up Cafe,” and we’ll focus on 2 Corinthians 5:17a – “If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. . .”

In this kid-friendly café full of chef’s hats and aprons, pots and pans, checkered tablecloths, and chalkboard menus, kids explore the Bible as a cookbook filled with recipes for living out God’s kingdom. Through interactive lessons, that are easy for kids to apply to their lives today, boys and girls will celebrate biblical festivals that reveal ingredients for being a follower of Jesus:

  • Be ready for God
  • Give happily to God
  • Believe fully in Jesus
  • Remember Jesus often
  • Celebrate God forever

To volunteer or for more information, contact
Kim English (children@fumcwf.org or 940-766-4231, x272).

On-line registration is now closed, but your child can still come and register in person any day this week!  Enter the Education Entrance and walk straight into the Atrium for registration.

SAVE TIME by printing and filling out the necessary form before tomorrow!  CLICK HERE for the 2-page form!
