Whats in the Bible About Us? What’s in the Bible and Why Should I Care?

That is the title of the next study coming to the Zarepath Sunday School Class on Sunday, February 14 at 9:15am in the Choir Room (below the Sanctuary).  Books cost $8 each if you’d like one to accompany the study.

This study will help participants explore biblical perspectives of human beings in relationship to God. Chapters include:

• “God Created Us”
• “God Cares for Us”
• “God Saves Us”
• “God Invites Us into Relationship.”

Each chapter contains the following features:

Bible Readings - Each chapter explores specific readings from the Bible.

The Questions – Each chapter begins with focus questions that will be explored in the Bible readings and the chapter information.

A Psalm – Each chapter begins with verses from a psalm. These excerpts from the psalms give readers the experience of using the Bible for personal and group devotion.

A Prayer – A brief two or three sentence prayer at the beginning and end of each chapter

What’s in the Bible? Participants will read and reflect upon key Bible readings in each chapter and use the space provided to write personal and private reflections.

Reflection Questions – These questions are related to the chapter information and are designed to help the reader consider key ideas that emerge from this information and from the Bible readings.

Bible Facts – Additional related information about the Bible readings.

Here’s Why I Care – This activity near the end of each chapter contains questions that invite the readers to grow in faith as they prayerfully reflect about what they have learned.

On Sunday, September 27, the Zarepath Sunday School Class will begin studying a book by James W. Moore called At the End of the Day:  How Will You Be Remembered.  You are invited to join them!

At the end of the day, what will people say about you?  If folks were totally candid, totally honest, how would your epitaph read?  In the Talmud it is suggested that to be successful in this life you should plant a tree, have a child, or write a book.  This means you should be sure that you have exerted an influence for good in this life that lives on after your days are on earth are done.  In each chapter popular author James W. Moore asks the question, Just how will you be remembered… as one who knew Christ s healing love?  who celebrated the joy of the journey?  who knew the Gift of the Holy Spirit?  who knew how to trust the right things? who knew the power of compassion?  who knew how to teach children the key things in life?  who knew the importance of prayer?  who knew right from wrong?  who knew the significance of the battle within?  who knew the power of words?  who knew that great getting-up morning ?  who knew how to be beautifully extravagant?   who knew how to be a real friend?  who knew how to close the gate? The book’s epilogue (called Making Every Day Count) provides some valuable insight into how to become that kind of person!
