Beyond Our Local Community
Meeting World Needs – As needs arise beyond our local community (i.e. tsunamis, hurricanes, flooding, epidemics, etc.) we strive to provide for needs monetarily and / or in needed supplies (i.e. flood buckets, hygiene kits, etc.). Check back here to see if there are particular projects we are trying to assist.
Mission Trips – Beginning in 2009 we started a tradition of doing at least annual mission trips to areas beyond our local community, answering Jesus’ call to “go to all the world.” Our hope is that these trips will not only make a difference at the destination of the trip but in our lives to inspire us to serve together not only beyond our community but in our community. Look below for details about mission trips!

Check out this compelling video overview of The Global Fund, the world’s leading source of funds to support the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. This video features commentary from world leaders, celebrities and global health advocates about the need for an accountable, sustainable mechanism for fighting diseases of poverty.
As United Methodists, we are strong—11 million strong. We believe the world is our parish. Every life is important to us, and every one of us is important in making this vision real. In reaching out to people to relieve suffering, we find a revitalization of our own faith and our understanding of what it means to be Christ followers.

We had flags from all around the world (thanks to Noros & DeeAnn Martin);
We had breads from all around the world (thanks to Ann Clarkson & Gail Key);
We shared in the covenantal meal of Holy Communion with people all around the world; and
We shared in a potluck meal featuring foods from all around the world.
During Communion and the Pot Luck, we took up an offering to benefit the United Methodist initiative (Imagine No Malaria) to eradicate malaria deaths on the continent of Africa by 2015. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and families as well as children who went from table to table during lunch to take up the offering, we raised $641.50!
Praise the Lord for these things that bind us together!

Did you know. . . More than 90 percent of the one million malaria deaths each year occur in sub-Saharan Africa. One in five children who dies before age five will die of malaria. Malaria was eliminated in the United States in the 1950s, but it remains a serious health issue across the globe, particularly in developing African countries. The United Methodist Church has been operating hospitals and clinics across Africa for more than 160 years, allowing us to reach the most remote areas, providing care and treatment where people need it most.
