A group of dedicated men meet most Wednesday mornings for fellowship, breakfast, and Bible study. We also sponsor an annual day retreat and periodic evening gatherings. Recent Wednesday morning studies have included:

  • Comparison of Christianity & Islam; and

2011 Men’s Retreat – Living the Abundant Life

Join us:

  • May 14, 2011
  • 9:00am-4:30pm

For the 2011 Men’s Retreat – Living the Abundant Life (based on John 10).

We’ll begin our retreat at Pioneer Restaurant (4545 Maplewood) before going to Warren Ayre’s ranch down near Bellevue.  Fun activities that will be available include:

  • Skeet Shooting (please, bring your own guns and shells);
  • Fishing (please, catch and release);
  • Horse Shoes;
  • A late lunch (please, bring your own meat!);
    • Sides provided include:
      Potato Salad (Jeff Ginn)
      Cole Slaw (Mark Price)
      Beans (Lamar Baer)
      Desserts (Gail Sogard & David Farabee)
      Tea (James Meaders)
      Ice (Troy Sims)
  • MORE!

Our leader will be Scott Mraz, a Californian who moved to Texas in 1995 and never went back. A graduate of Brite Divinity School in May 2003 (along with Revs. Troy Sims & Becky [Henson] Cole Love), he has worked in a variety of vocations in his adult life, including retail, academia, and private security. His current ministry is as a third grade teacher living in Ft. Worth, Texas with his new bride and fellow co-worker, also a school teacher. As a result of his recent nuptials, he has converted from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship to the ELCA Lutherans where he is also seeking ordination for ministry in their church. Anything else you want to know about him, just ask and he’ll tell you!

5th Annual Men’s Retreat Was a Great Success Despite Rain

Our theme was “Being Fruitful Christians in a World of Drought,” but on this particular day, we experienced, not drought, BUT much rain.  This modified our plans a bit.

As planned, we began with breakfast at Pioneer Restaurant, but when we heard Warren Ayres got stuck trying to get to his barn where the retreat was to be held, we decided to change locations to the 3rd Floor of the Education Wing. There, Rev. Don Pellikan led us in 2 sessions based around our theme. In between, we had some free time for ping-pong, pool, foosball, and fellowship followed by great BBQ ribs and more sides than we could eat! It was great!
