Parenting With Purpose offers help for parents of very young children and those who are nearing adulthood. Parents attending this class will learn how to:

  • Develop a plan to help achieve goals in any and all areas of development: physical, intellectual, emotional/social and even spiritual;
  • Build trusting relationships with your children;
  • Incorporate daily activities and routines that foster brain development and organization skills; and
  • Understand behavior and emotional triggers that your child may be exhibiting and ways to help him/her express their emotions appropriately.

Taming Tempers: Have a child (2-12 years of age) with some “anger management” issues? Although we may try to laugh these off, sometimes our child’s angry outbursts can frustrate or even alarm us as a parent. All children hopefully experience anger as part of their development, but not all children are quick to pick up on coping methods that are appropriate. In our Taming Tempers workshop, parents will learn how to:

  • Identify an upcoming explosive incident;
  • How to teach your child to handle anger appropriately; and
  • Teach your child techniques to soothe him/herself the next time he/she feels the need to hit or express anger inappropriately.

Both classes will be taught by Dr. Paula Stiernberg, a former teacher and school administrator with years of experience helping children and families recognize problems, redirect behaviors, and establish more balanced lives.
