Volunteers Needed – Project Back to School – August 14, 2010
With 8,000 WFISD students considered economically disadvantaged, many cannot afford school supplies. How are we to transform our community if we do not provide our children the tools they need to succeed in school?
One of the ways we can help is by providing volunteers for the Project Back to School Roundup on Saturday, August 14, 2010 (CLICK HERE to learn more). This will be an informative, fun family event that provides WFISD students with the essential supplies and services they need to start the school year ready to learn.
The Roundup will include:
- Exhibit booths about school and social services to assist students and their families;
- An immunization clinic;
- Vouchers for free student haircuts provided by Carrigan cosmetology;
- Free sports physicals for junior high students provided by Champions Clinic; and
- School supply kits and backpacks for eligible students.
As volunteers, we would help distribute supplies to the families. We need you to sign up for at least one shift:
- 8:30am-12:00noon; or
- 11:30am-3:00pm.
