The Dream of God – 2009 Ash Wednesday Service & Lenten Study
Lent is a season of the church that begins on Ash Wednesday, which was Feburary 25, 2009. During the 40 days of Lent (not including Sundays), we remember Jesus’ 40 days of fasting in the wilderness by choosing to fast from something ourselves, preparing us for Easter and a closer relationship with God.
This year, we celebrated Ash Wednesday with two services, 12:15pm and 6:15pm, in Perkins Chapel. The message was preached by Rev. Troy Sims on the topic of “The Dream of God,” using inspiration from the book of the same name by Verna J. Dozier.
In addition, for each Wednesday in Lent (not including Spring Break Week, March 18), Rev. Sims is offering a 45-minute Lenten study at 12:15pm & 6:15pm continuing with the theme, “The Dream of God.” Although it is not required, Rev. Sims recommends reading the book along with this study.
This is a “Brown Bag” study in which you are invited to bring your lunch or supper along with you to the study. Although the study is underway, you may feel free to join at any time!
To participate, fill out the form below or contact Rev. Sims (tsims@fumcwf.org or 940-766-4231).
